My latest socks are progressing well. They’re goth socks self striping yarn in the wine em and dine em colourway. I am trying afterthought heels for the first time in order to maintain the stripes. I am going to try the crystal heel from Knitty. Anyone have any advice?

I always do my afterthought heels like a toe. So, ssk on the end of one needle, and k2tog on the other end. Do that on the other needle, and knit a round in between. Decrease until you’re happy, and kitchener your stitches :)

I was going to do that, as that’s what my cookie a book ‘sock innovation’ recommends. But I’ve heard that the resulting heel is too shallow and the sock slides down your foot, have you found that? That’s why I was planning on going with the crystal heel
